Bit of a different style of post from me today because I’ve not done anything like this before, but I was tagged by the lovely Yella Hawk (thank you you fab thing) to do The Liebster Award, and here we are. Obviously I’ve used that as an excuse to shoehorn some outfit photos in too, so feel free to ignore the words and stay for the garms if that’s more your cup of tea.
I believe I am supposed to begin with ‘The Rules’, which are as follows:
• Thank the blogger who nominated you (We’ve covered that, but again THANKS GAL)
• Answer the questions your nominator asked in their post
• Nominate 5-11 bloggers for the award
• Ask your nominees 5-11 questions
• Let your nominees know they’ve been nominated!
And without further ado, here are my answers…
What would a perfect Sunday morning look like for you? No alarm. No hangover. A good breakfast, a good coffee and a good book in bed (fresh bed sheets only). Season-appropriate candle burning. A pilates or yoga class.
What’s your all time favourite book? THAT’S TOO HARD. I was a very bookish child and I’m an English Lit graduate so I’m definitely not short of books to talk about – the problem is picking one. I might have to say Harry Potter, which holds a very special place in my heart. I have never understood people who scoff at the mention of HP – as an uncertain and awkward teenager who really lacked confidence, Hogwarts was my favourite escape and somewhere I honestly felt I sort of grew up. We’re getting a bit emotional now and you might be thinking that I’m a crazy person, but I still get excited and nostalgic at the thought of returning to them because I know that no matter what is going on in the real world, in the words of JK, “Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home”. And I get to sneakily make it seven books rather than one if I say Harry Potter.
What’s your biggest goal in life? To be completely and truly happy with what I have (even if it isn’t a mansion, a million pounds, a killer set of abs and some sort of business empire). And also to have a dog.
What do you love most about your blog? The fact that it’s mine! I’m not entirely happy with my writing/images/layout/mix of content yet but all the same I love that I have this website which is my own and I get to call the shots, make the decisions and do things to my tastes.
Who inspired you recently? One of my oldest friends, who has shown over the past few months just how strong it is possible for someone to be.
Which advice would you give someone who wants to start blogging? Having only been blogging a couple of months myself I’m not sure I’m particularly well-positioned to answer this, but I’ll give it a crack. Firstly, DO IT. I wish I had sooner. Secondly, do it for the right reasons because if its not something you love doing, then a couple of likes/followers or a free item is just not worth it; blogging is time-consuming and can be really frustrating at times. And thirdly, get involved! Everyone so far has been lovely and your first readers will likely be people you have actively engaged with.
What’s your favourite cocktail? A mojito. Or a daiquiri. Or a cuba libre. Oh I don’t know, I’m more of a try them all kind of gal!
So the rules say to nominate people and I don’t break rules so I’m nominating people. However apparently I do bend rules; I’m only nominating 3 people because it was SO hard to find people who hadn’t already done this and because I’m awful. Sorry if anyone below has in fact done this in the past – I tried to check – but I’d been looking for too long and gave up – please don’t feel you have to do it!
Beth from Beth Atkins (who, incidentally, took the snaps for this post – thank you!)
Natalie from Natalie Leanne
Alice from Black Tulip Beauty
And here are your questions:
- What’s one thing you really love about yourself?
- Show us your favourite item of clothing that you own.
- Is there something that it seems absolutely everyone is crazy about but you really hate?
- If you were a character from a book, film or TV show, who would you be?
- Recommend one place you’ve travelled to to everyone and tell us why you loved it so much.
- If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance of winning at?
Earrings – H&M | Tee – Primark | Culottes – Zara | Bag – Parfois | Shoes – Zara
Since this is all about getting to know people, I thought these were the most appropriate outfit photos I could use essentially this combo is just some of my favourite things all thrown together. None of it is new – the most recent purchase is the tee, which I picked up around six weeks ago and I think is still in stock – so these shots would never have made for a good shoppable post, but I think they sum up my style pretty well. This is exactly the kind of outfit I’m likely to be sporting on a regular basis and I wear these items repeatedly…my love for culottes knows no bounds, we all know how I feel about embroidery, and why on earth not pair some jazzy Pat Butcher style earrings with a super casual tee?!
